Speech and Language Therapy sessions can vary in length based on the goals of the session and the needs of the child or young person.
Assessment sessions typically take place for 60 minutes at a time. Our assessments are always child-led, play based and engaging. Sessions may be shorter in duration or include breaks and opportunity for movement to support children who might find paying attention for a long time hard.
The length of intervention sessions can vary depending on the need and goal.

At Unity SLT, we are flexible with the location of appointments. Appointments can be offered in the family home, at education settings such as schools, alternative provisions or colleges. We have a clinic space available should this be preferred, however we find most success when sessions take place in a familiar, comfortable environment. This also allows us to embed strategies into the child’s day to day life.
We are able to offer a combination of both home and school appointments, to support with applying strategies across settings.

Yes, we welcome parents or carers to be present at their child’s appointments. You know your child best and will be able to support us in understanding their communication and what helps them. This will help us to share information with each other and carry over strategies outside of sessions.
We are however, able to complete sessions without parents present should this be preferred. We will always provide a session summary to the child, parent/carer and school to ensure work is carried over.
